Description

A variably marked ladybird. It generally has 3 black spots on each orange/brown elytron, as well as a black scutellary spot. The foremost elytral spot is elongate and often fused with the second spot. It inhabits moors and lowland heathland, feeding on Heather Leaf Beetle larvae. Widespread but possibly local. It has a thinly scattered distribution in Cumbria, generally in heathy areas.
