Description Uniformly dark brown over the head, pronotum and elytra with a dense covering of light brown hairs. Ridges running the length of the elytra are obvious. The legs and antennae are a more chestnut/red brown colour. The antennae are short, not extending beyond the end of the pronotum.
Life Cycle The larva is known as a wireworm and lives in the soil. It is yellow, slender, stiff and leathery, and grows to a length of about 20 mm (0.8 in). The centre of the mandible has a small tooth for gnawing
