Adult Late July - Early June

Description There are two generational colour forms of the Gorse Shieldbug there form very consistent with the predominant vegetation. The Spring emergents are Green whereas the new generation appearing late summer have purple-red markings on the pronotum and corium. Like many Shields Autumn generations turn darker in colour prior to hibernating and therefore can be confused as the Green Sheildbug Palomena prasina

Larvae. Are around June - Early August The nymphs feed not just on gorse seed pods but other Legumes, such as Broom , Dyers Green Weed Laburnum, and in the autumn are seed-pod coloured. Newly-emerged adults in autumn are green and purple ( after hibernation they are green - only then do they mate.
