- This species has three keels on the scutellum, as per Cixius,
- There are also usually three short dark stripes/ bands along forewing edge
- Forewing colour - varies , ranging from plain to almost entirely dark; one common form as shown has the forewings dark in the apical third.
- Also distinguished by the presence of dark spots between the veins at the tip of the forewing
