Phenology

The bee has a two flight periods each year. It fliesfrom March to May, and again from June to early
August. Spring Broods are considerable more in numners than the summer brood

Identification

A medium sized bee with distinct pale hair bands on the hind edges of the tergites. The scopae are distinctly more orange coloured than the hairs on the thorax. Males differ in appearance from the Females. They are slimmer, covered in sparser hair and lack the dense brush of orange-yellow hairs on the hind leg.

Life Cycle

There are two distinct generations each year. A. flavipes plays in most habitats presents as host to the Cuckoo bee Nomada fucata

Habitat

Gardens, parks, south-facingcliffs, grasslands, orchards and on the edges of cropped agricultural land
