Family : Madder family ( Rubiaceae)

Attractive perennial of grassy woodland rides, hedgerows and verges, mainly on calcareous soils. Widespread; commonest in N and E England. Oval, hairy leaves borne in distinct whorls of four. Clusters of yellow flowers appear April to June. Height up to 50cm
