Spineless grassland shrub, widespread and locally common in England, Wales and S Scotland. Leaves are narrow and sometimes downy. The broom-like flowers are 15 mm long; appear June to July on leafy, stalked spikes. Pods are oblong and hairless. Height up to 1m
